A few days ago, Karin and I completed our respective graduate programs at Iowa State University and moved up to the Jokela farm. After years of dreaming and planning, and after months of consecutive weekend trips to the farm to chip away at projects - farm clean-up, greenhouse construction, packing shed renovation, field preparation, garlic planting - we're finally here for good. And while my to-do list has never been longer, I couldn't be more thrilled to be stepping into this next adventure called farming.
Stay tuned for more updates as we move from winter into spring. It's a lot more fun to write (and for you to read, I presume) about growing plants than about the market development, crop planning, and infrastructure projects that will dominate my next two months.
